Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) - Arlington Avenue

The City of Newark, in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Transportation, intends to implement sidewalk improvements along Arlington Avenue using federal Safe Routes to School program funding. The scope of this project includes the construction/reconstruction of sidewalks on the south side of Arlington Avenue from SR79 (Cedar Street) to Heritage Middle School. Unfortunately, the City is only able to address sidewalk on one side of the street at this time due to the limited funds available. The south side was chosen based on utilization by school aged children. The project also includes modifications to the existing sidewalk on the south side of the Heritage Middle School driveway. Work generally consists of new 5-foot sidewalk, raised where possible, and improvements to various driveway and alley approaches, along with drainage improvements.

Construction: June 1, 2020 – August 14, 2020

Construction Cost Estimate: $650,000
