DIVISION OF STREETS

The Division of Streets is home to a multitude of responsibilities within the City of Newark. First and most important of those responsibilities is that maintenance of the streets. This includes the obvious duties of patching potholes as well as larger repaving projects during the spring and summer months. The street department is also responsible for storm drains that are generally located on the corners of intersections and are referred to as catch basins. The street department cleans and maintains these catch basins.

In addition to these duties, the street department carries out a number of other functions such as mowing during the grass-growing season, leaf pick-up in October and street sweeping. Complaints or questions regarding any of these areas may be made by calling the office during the hours of 7:00am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. The superintendent of the Division of Streets is Dave Reed.
