The Division of Property Maintenance
The Division of Property Maintenance Enforcement is administered by the City of Newark, Department of Public Safety. Tom Wolfe serves as the Code Official. The Code Official is responsible for overseeing the operations and enforcement of the Property Maintenance Department.
The Property Maintenance Code 07-03 of the Newark City Ordinances was adopted January 17, 2007. It is based on the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) created by the International Code Council. The IPMC is used by approximately 14,000 jurisdictions nationwide. The City of Newark has modified the IPMC to address the specific needs of the Newark community.
