Municipal Court
The Licking County Municipal Court is a system created by statute. This Court only has powers granted to them by the Ohio Legislature.

The territorial jurisdiction of this Court covers all of Licking County and only shares jurisdiction with smaller Mayors Courts in some matters.

The monetary jurisdiction of this Court covers all civil cases filed in Licking County that claim damages of up to $15,000. There is also established a small claims court that has monetary jurisdiction of up to $3,000.

The subject matter jurisdiction of this Court covers any civil cases filed in Licking County within the monetary jurisdiction listed above. This Court also has original jurisdiction in all traffic violations that occurred in Licking County and those not first heard by a Mayors Court. This Court also has original jurisdiction regarding misdemeanors that occurred in Licking County and those not first heard by a Mayors Court.

Attendance that is required by this Court shall be at 40 W. Main St., on the third floor of the Municipal Building of the City of Newark. In traffic or Criminal cases where attendance is not required by the Court, all payments of fines shall be made in person or mailed to the Court at the following address:
