Main St. Newark, OH 43055 (740) 670-7533 kburton@newarkohio.net The Department of Community Development provides a range of programs and services designed to strengthen our community by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities. We work with other City departments and community-based non-profit organizations to improve the quality of life for low- and moderate-income citizens. The Department implements community development strategies in accordance with Newark Consolidated Plan for 2005 – 2009. Funding is provided from the Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs. We also manage the Newark Lead Based Paint Hazard Reduction program and the Newark Public Transit program. Specific information about these programs and services can be accessed from this site.
